A statewide eviction moratorium is set to expire on Saturday, and at least two Hudson Valley municipalities are pushing their own “good cause” eviction legislation ahead of the moratorium’s end.
Extending New York’s eviction moratorium would require action by Gov. Kathy Hochul and state lawmakers. First enacted in 2020 to help those suffering financial hardship because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the moratorium’s expiration could leave many tenants wondering what’s next for their living situations.
