Huge Walmart shipping hub in the works for North Fort Worth

The nation’s biggest retailer is eyeing another huge shipping hub in North Fort Worth.

Walmart is planning the more than 1 million-square-foot distribution center in the AllianceTexas development.

The huge warehousing center is in the works n the Westport 11 building at 14700 Blue Mound Road, according to Fort Worth building permits.

The massive warehouse was recently built by developer Hillwood and is near the Alliance Airport and the BNSF Railway intermodal facility.

Other companies including UPS, Amazon and FedEx have shipping centers in the same area.

The Westport 11 industrial building was constructed to eventually double in size.

Walmart plans to occupy the AllianceTexas building in September, according to planning documents filed with the state.

Renovations to the warehouse will cost $13 million, the filings show.

Walmart already has multiple warehouse centers in North Texas. In 2016, it opened a 1 million-square-foot distribution center on North Beach Street at AllianceTexas.

And Walmart is making an $800 million investment in two Lancaster two e-commerce facilities totaling 1.9 million square feet.

The AllianceTexas area in North Tarrant and Denton counties is one of the highest-demand industrial building markets in North Texas.
